Once again, one of our St. Michael’s Odyssey of the Mind teams has made it to the World Finals at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan! We are very proud of our school and the commitment of all the students who participated in the program this year. All teams competed the provincial tournament on April 13th, this team competed in Division 1 by participating in a Spontaneous Challenge and performing their Long Term Problem.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international program that promotes creative problem solving and teamwork. This program engages students by challenging them to find innovative solutions to a variety of technical and performance problems.
Our Division 1 team is comprised of two grade 5 students, two grade 4 students and one student in grade 3. They chose to solve and perform Problem 1, “Omer To The Rescue”. This team has met every week for the past 8 months to work on this problem and practice their performance.
We are asking for your support to help cover the cost of flights and accommodations for the students to compete at Michigan State University. The cost of sending 5 students to MIchigan and accommodating them is very high, therefore, any size donation will help.
If you are interested in donating you can donate by cheque or cash to the school office. Donation forms are attached to this newsletter and are also available outside the school office. Your support and encouragement is very much appreciated!
